This Privacy Policy explains how Skillglider collects, uses, stores, and shares personal information for Zing Hackathon registration, participation, communication, and event administration.
1. Organizer and privacy contact
Skillglider organizes the Zing Hackathon and administers participant information through the event platform.
For questions about this policy or requests concerning your personal information, contact skillglider4@gmail.com.
2. Information collected
During registration, we collect the following information for each participant:
- Full name.
- Date of birth.
- College or institution.
- College roll number.
- Email address.
- Mobile number.
- WhatsApp number.
- Team role.
- Team name.
During participation, we also process information associated with your event activities, including assessment records, submission links, evaluation scores, qualification status, and communications you send to organizers.
Where promotional consent is requested, we record your choice separately from event registration.
3. How information is used
Participant information is used to:
- Create and manage participant accounts.
- Authenticate sign-ins and deliver sign-in codes.
- Administer registrations and team participation.
- Verify participant identity and published eligibility requirements.
- Conduct assessments and coordinate project reviews.
- Record judging outcomes and determine qualification.
- Publish event results as described in this policy.
- Send essential event announcements and deadline reminders.
- Respond to support requests and resolve participation issues.
Promotional communications are sent only when you provide separate, optional consent.
4. Required information and registration accuracy
The registration form identifies the information required to participate. If required information is missing, organizers may be unable to complete registration or verify eligibility.
Participants should provide accurate information and keep their profiles and contact details current.
Team leaders entering information for other members should ensure those members know what information is being submitted and have access to this policy.
5. Service providers
The platform uses Supabase for authentication, database services, and file storage.
Configured service providers may process information needed to deliver their services. For example, an email delivery provider may process your email address and the contents of an event message.
Additional providers, including any email or WhatsApp delivery services, will be identified here once configured by the organizers.
Details to be completed before publication: Additional provider names, their functions, and relevant privacy-policy links.
6. Email and WhatsApp communications
Email is used for sign-in codes and essential event communications, including registration notices, assessment instructions, submission reminders, and result announcements.
WhatsApp updates, where configured, are sent through an approved organizer channel.
Consent to promotional messages is optional and separate from participation. Participants may withdraw promotional consent by contacting the privacy email or using an unsubscribe option where provided.
Withdrawing promotional consent does not prevent delivery of essential account and event messages.
7. Public scoreboard and results
Published results may include:
- Team name.
- Event round.
- Criterion-level scores.
- Total scores.
- Qualification status.
Personal contact details and dates of birth are not published on the scoreboard.
Participants should avoid including private information in team names or other content intended for public display.
8. Public Google Drive submissions
Participants submit project materials through Google Drive folders configured as “Anyone with the link” — Viewer.
Anyone who obtains a folder link may be able to view its contents. Participants must check the folder and its files before sharing the link and exclude:
- Confidential information.
- Personal information that should not be publicly accessible.
- Passwords, API keys, or other access credentials.
- Materials they are not authorized to share.
Google Drive operates under Google’s own terms and privacy policy. Participants control their submission folders and must maintain the access required by the published event rules.
Removing a folder link from the event platform does not itself change the folder’s Google Drive permissions.
9. Authorized access and security
The platform uses role-based permissions and Row Level Security to restrict access to participant data.
Access to registration details is limited to the participant concerned and authorized organizers or reviewers, according to their assigned permissions and event responsibilities.
Participants should protect their accounts, avoid sharing sign-in codes, and report suspected unauthorized access promptly.
Security controls reduce risk, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.
10. Retention and deletion
The organizers have not yet confirmed retention periods.
The final retention information will explain how long registration records, assessment information, submissions stored on the platform, communication records, and results are retained, and how they are deleted or anonymized.
Participants may contact skillglider4@gmail.com to request deletion or ask about information held about them. Organizers will explain how the request can be handled and whether any information needs to be retained under applicable requirements.
Deleting information from the event platform does not automatically delete files held in a participant’s Google Drive account.
Organizer confirmation required: Retention periods, deletion procedures, and treatment of backups and published results.
11. Reviewing, correcting, and requesting information
Participants can review and correct their own profile details after signing in.
For information that cannot be edited through the platform, or for other privacy requests, contact skillglider4@gmail.com.
Depending on applicable law, requests may concern access, correction, deletion, withdrawal of consent, or other rights relating to personal information.
Include enough information to identify your registration and explain your request. Do not send passwords or sign-in codes. Organizers may request reasonable identity verification before disclosing or changing account information.
12. Cookies and authentication sessions
The platform uses essential cookies to maintain signed-in sessions. It does not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Restricting essential cookies through browser settings may prevent sign-in or interfere with account features.
13. Younger participants
Arrangements for participants below the relevant age threshold in their jurisdiction have not yet been confirmed.
The organizers must publish the applicable age requirements and any parent or guardian notice, consent, or verification process before accepting registrations from participants for whom those arrangements are required.
Organizer confirmation required: Applicable age threshold, participation conditions, and any parental or guardian process.
14. Policy changes
This policy may be updated to reflect changes to event operations, service providers, or information-handling practices.
The version number and effective date at the top of this page identify the most recently published policy. Material changes will be communicated through the event platform or an appropriate official communication channel.
